Executive Producer and Director
Randy
Douthit is the executive producer and director of Judy Justice, the landmark courtroom program featuring Judge Judy
Sheindlin from IMDb TV, Amazon’s free streaming service.
Before helming Judy Justice,
Douthit was the executive producer and director of Judge Judy, the
#1 program in first-run syndication for 12 consecutive seasons. The Emmy® Award-winning
program just completed its historic 25-year run in September 2021.
Before joining Judge Judy, Douthit
created and executive produced CNN’s long-running and successful primetime
program, Larry King Live, as
well as the network’s lively news show Crossfire. He
went on to serve as an executive producer for Warner Bros. Television and as
executive vice president of television for Quincy Jones Entertainment, where he
was responsible for the NBC hit “Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.” Quincy Jones once
referred to Douthit as “one of the most creative and energetic producers” he
had ever seen.
Early in his career, Douthit became a proven innovator of television by taking
a failing local television series, Seattle Today, from
last place to first with an unprecedented 65 share. He later achieved national
prominence when Ted Turner tapped him to work on several high-profile projects
at the then-fledgling CNN. During his ten years at the network, Douthit
created, executive produced and directed its three highest-rated programs: Larry King Live, Crossfire and Capital Gang. He also produced CNN interview specials
with Presidents George H.W. Bush, Ronald Reagan, Jimmy Carter and Richard Nixon.
Douthit has garnered six Cable Ace Awards, six Emmy® Awards,
and two Peabody Awards during his career.
